Michael Ferreira (formerly known and credited as Michael McDerman) is a contributor to the published book Straight Talk with Gay Guys: What Girlfriends Can't Tell You and Straight Men Won't by Daylle Deanna Schwartz. He has written an article that has appeared in the 2006 gay pride issue of Next Magazine entitled Leading Ladies, and recently wrote, produced, starred in, and co-directed the award winning short film It's Me, Matthew! www.Itsmematthew.com.

Having had a wide range of acting experience, Michael has appeared in such diverse roles as the sociopathic Tyler Henry on NBC's Law and Order: Special Victims Unit, a Madonna impersonator in an A&E Madonna Biography Special, and in the dual role of Adrian and the Priestess in the short film Voodoo which was nominated for best short film at the Pill Awards in 2008.

He appeared in Casper Andreas' independent feature film A Four Letter Word, made appearances on such shows as Sex and the City, The Ricki Lake Show, Viralcom, Under The Pink Carpet, and Z Rock and has done extensive theater work, including the dual role of the Vicar and Maid in The Ring of Death at Theater for the New City. Michael is spontaneous, inventive, and quick witted; an outrageous improv comedian. He has also mastered the special ability of female impersonation, producing and hosting shows at numerous cabarets lounges as his self-created alter ego, Carmella Cann, a celebrity in her own right.

Born on August 10th, Michael is a native New Yorker of Portuguese immigrant descent. After achieving his Bachelors degree in Corporate Marketing and Communications from Baruch College, with a dual minor in English and Psychology, Michael went on to study theater with William Esper and Nancy Mayons of Rutgers University. He has had two years of intense improv comedy training at the Uprights Citizens Brigade, followed by Magnet Theater, studying under Armando Diaz. While English is his first language, Michael is fluent in Portuguese and has a good working knowledge of Spanish as well.

Michael is a member of the Screen Actors Guild and American Federation of Television and Radio Artist, and holds a chair on the Screen Actors Guild LGBT Actor's Committee. Overall, Michael is an easygoing, charming, likable personality, who adds that extra special element to any project in which he is involved in. He enjoys reading, listening to music, and spending quality time with family and friends.
